Tired of tech conferences overwhelmingly presented by white men, OURSA is holding a cybersecurity conference April 17th in San Francisco with a deliberate emphasis on presentations by women and people of color. It’s sold out, but check it out:
Check out their terms (quoted from the site):
OUR Security Advocates is dedicated to a harassment-free conference experience for everyone. Our anti-harassment policy can be found here.
A mothers’ room will be provided. If you need any other accommodations please contact us at email@example.com.
We know that many more people will be interested in the content than can attend in person, and we are investigating options for live streaming. Parking near the event will be very limited, so we strongly recommend taking public transit or ride-sharing.
Please follow us on Twitter (@oursaconference) or Facebook (/oursaconference) for updates.
I’m glad we’re finally getting to the point that we can do more than appeal for better from those in control, but actually just go ahead and do better ourselves.
Kudos, OURSA folks. Hope to see more from you soon!
